I'm using the Bose Soundlink Mini for the last two Years in my garage almost every day when I work there. I wanted something that sounds better and has a little more volume. I considered getting a Sonos system, but ultimately settled on something smaller and more portable. Enter the remix. The promise of better sound and a built-in speaker/headphone amp was another plus. For starters, the fit and finish of the device is pretty good. I ordered Black Leather which could be a mistake considering it's a garage sound system. Lots of dust! But that is my own problem, not the speaker's. It's a bit bigger than the Soundlink Mini, but the sound is noticeably louder. That was my ultimate goal so I could handle the larger size. My only complaint about the physical design is that one of the torx screws on the bottom wasn't fully tightened, causing the unit to wobble on the table. I found the right size torx and put it in correctly and all was well. I hope it was only once. The sound quality is just fantastic. The bass is definitely the best thing about this little device. It's amazingly clear and accurate, way better than the Soundlink Mini. It hits pretty hard and deep for something so small. Placing the device in a corner or near a wall will actually shake the table/workbench. Mid and high frequencies are equally good. Very good for male vocals (that's all I really hear) and the highs are crisp and clear and very well distributed. Overall, the sound is pleasant and balanced, with a slight bass emphasis, as is the case with most V-MODA products. Out of all the portable mini BT speakers I've heard, the Remix is slightly better than the rest (I've had Beats Pill, Sony and Soundlink Mini so far). built-in VAMP (amplifier). I have a set of M-Audio AV40 active speakers that I use in the garden when we have parties/barbecues. Previously I had to connect my phone or iPad to them. Now I just place the remix next to my speakers and I can connect any device via BT and it plays flawlessly! More sound than I ever needed in my garden. I'm sure the neighbors already hate me. My only criticism of the device is the startup/pairing/shutdown sounds. Way too loud. Borderline uncomfortable. I wish there was a way to disable this. All this to say that this is a fantastic portable speaker that I highly recommend. I'm very picky when it comes to sound and functionality, and the Remix ticks all of those boxes and then some. Features like the built-in headphone/speaker amplifier are truly groundbreaking.
