Review on πŸ“¦ 100-Pack of Premium 12" White Polylined Kraft Paper Inner Sleeves for 33RPM LP Vinyl Record Albums - P.Y.P Protect You Play by Shawn Sims

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Possibly the cheapest multi lined record sleeve available.

I have bought over 500 of these envelopes and can tell you that every second pack out of 100 has problems rendering 10% of them unusable. The paper is thin, the plastic is shaped like a bag and glued on both sides (which is necessary). Most problems occur when one side is off-center, causing the inner bag to not line up with the paper envelope. Worse, there are sleeves with glue in the pocket. The glue is a long line at the top and a smaller line at the bottom. The plastic is cloudy and not transparent. Most paper sleeves are not truly acid neutral. While it's best to have fully acid neutral covers, most old LP covers are very acidic, many new ones are smooth on the outside but acidic on the inside (Vinyl Me Please, MoFi, and maybe some "boutique" labels are exceptions). Most covers from the 70's and 80's are more acidic than notebook paper. I live in a humid environment and have used polyliner cases for a very long time with great success. If you've ever had a paper sleeve stuck to your record (or worse, your cover) then you know how important that little piece of plastic is to protect the grooves. Most records end up with a little dirt in the sleeve that gets caught in that big hole in the middle. The plastic between your vinyl and paper is far less abrasive than just paper versus vinyl once a smudge penetrates. All it takes is one time to find out. Finally, it would be nice to have a neutral Ph paper sleeve to draw the acid out of the LP sleeve. Those aren't the sleeves. However, they mostly come together as they should, sometimes off-center, some with glue inside, which is a big no-no. Expect at least 10 cases out of 100 to be unusable. You have the best chance with 500 sleeves. About as good as the more expensive lined sleeves, which are also fully lined. You save paper and work, but do well in 9 out of 10 cases.
