Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs BKR5EIX-11, Set of 6 - # 5464 by Matt Welch

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My factory NGKs have done 160,000 miles so I'm sticking with them!

I bought 6 of these wheels for my 2006 Hyundai Azera with a 3.8 liter V6 engine. I decided to stick with this brand and connector type because Hyundai's original factory NGK Iridium connectors lasted 160,000 hours. Yes. 160,000 miles before I decided to pay for the work to replace it. My Hyundai V6 has the engine mounted on the side so the front 3 plugs are a breeze and the rear 6 require quite a bit of effort to remove the parts to get to. I ended up asking the dealer to do this when replacing the valve seals. It was pricey but necessary as I eventually noticed a slightly rough idle and a loss of around 1-2mpg. I never expected more than better idle, but I was blown away by both the power increase and the increase in MPG. The Azera V6 was already a pretty fast engine, but with the new spark plugs I really have to accelerate a lot more easily, otherwise the front wheels spin. I'm not sure how long my engine will last, but if these spark plugs last half as long as the first ones, they will most likely be the last spark plugs I'll ever need for this car. I highly recommend buying these as you don't want to pay the store to swap out those rear plugs at more frequent intervals. Also, the dealer provided me with old original 160k mile spark plugs and maybe they could be cleaned and reused! I understand that the condition of your engine over time will also determine your performance and the condition of your spark plugs, but I have had minimal maintenance on this engine and the brand and type of spark plugs have given me trouble free operation well in excess of normal ignition spark goes beyond plug life.
