I had to upgrade from a much older version because I needed SDHD support and the ability to read Micro, SD and CF cards. Data transfer speeds are lightning fast, especially when compared to cameras and other digital media that use native PC transfer. Its functionality is not without excellence, which is what I've come to expect from SanDisk. Although the device itself is compact, its industrial design isn't quite what I've come to expect from SanDisk. The device is plastic and will take some punishment, but it just doesn't feel or sound like a quality design. And it comes with a stand that cannot be used at all. Inserting or removing a memory card moves the cradle or detaches the reader from the cradle. The stand ended up in the trash, and I just left the reader, connected via a mini-USB cable, in a corner of my desk, within reach, while three other cables hung around, waiting. use (iPhone charger, mini USB charger/data port, FireWire video cable and SanDisk card reader)
