Review on Retekess HR11S Green Solar Crank Phone Charger Survival Radio – Shortwave Emergency Radio with SOS Alert, AM FM SW, Flashlight, TF Port, Clock by Brenda Sanchez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great radio at a great price

This radio deserves five stars for features and quality for only $50. Of course if it's a $200 radio it could have extra features etc. but if you read all the available features carefully you can conclude that that's a lot. My needs are basic at the moment and I am currently using AM and FM mostly. I've been a radio amateur for 53 years and have used dozens of radios during that time. This radio is sensitive enough to pick up even the weakest AM and FM stations in my area. Individuals unfamiliar with the effects of the 11-year sunspot cycle on SW propagation might conclude that the SW band is out of order and downgrade their rating. There is currently little to no spread for several consecutive days and signals will be weak or absent. Also, it's a tiny antenna. The SW needs a long line outside the home to really work. I'm not worried about the SW part of the radio. I am amazed that such a small radio can produce such a good sound. But it certainly does the job. This is important for my hearing. I'm sure I will use more features in the future such as charging my cellphone, using the solar panel and charger when traveling by campervan and finally adding music files to the radio. .By the way, read the manual. Play the radio. Then read the instructions again. If you don't, you can assume something isn't working when in reality you just don't understand what the manual is saying. How radio works.
