This is my hardest 5 star review ever. I have installed AutoVox windshield mirror image backup cameras in two vintage Roadtrek cars. The results are excellent. I gave this product 5 stars because the proven image quality of the end product is a huge safety improvement when driving an RV, whether on the road or in reverse. Here's what I like best and what I should look out for or improve. The special feature: driving safety - eliminates blind spots in the driver's field of vision, especially in curves. This applies in particular to mobile homes. Reversing Safety - Reversing mode lowers the camera's view of the ground directly behind the vehicle. The original touchscreen mirror allows the driver to tilt the view even lower with a single gesture than going into backup mode. the car drives backwards. Automatic brightness control. Night vision at dusk is better than in a mirror. Clear and sharp image resolution on the screen. Genuine customer service - emails (from China) were answered quickly. They want their customers to get a successful installation result. The wiring harness was long enough for a 20 foot van. (Not sure if extension cords are available for longer runs). Things I would like to know: The wiring harness goes from the screen that replaces the inside mirror, up through the headliner and windshield side duct down to your fuse box, then back up to the ceiling and to the rear of the car connector for the camera, and finally a wire goes to the reversing light. Routing and hiding this wire is a difficult task. You will learn a lot about how the interior of your car is arranged. Despite the problems with the wiring, I made a conscious decision to go with a wired device. I'm not sure about the reliability of Wi-Fi when it's needed most. This image above your dashboard could save you from an accident. Will the WiFi module be 100% reliable? Thunderstorm anyone? I just do not know. That was my consolation when I found ways to hide the wire in fancy RV interiors. These runs took time to get right. Each model is its own story. Depending on the vehicle type, there are two possible camera positions. The best place for an RV is above the rear window. Other vehicles may mount the camera under the rear license plate. Depending on which seat you choose, your view from the driver's seat will differ significantly. The motorhome benefits from a high attachment point which offers better visibility while driving. The camera is tiny and comes with a tiny bracket that attaches with tiny screws to the other part of the bracket that attaches to your car. glue surface. This is configured for the low point of the installation. If you choose a high installation point, an inverted image will appear on your screen after the entire installation is complete. I know I made that mistake twice! Only then will you realize that the camera doesn't have a "this side up" mark... and what tiny screws hold the camera to the mount and the mount parts together. Loosening those bolts to disassemble and reassemble the mount pieces while sitting up a ladder in the scorching sun and slipping a hand or two from your hand into the dirt below will rock you with this product. I lost so many screws - no more than half a grain of rice each - that tech support sent me a new camera. The camera produces a remarkably sharp image but supports both close-up and long-distance focus through a fisheye lens. As a result, cars that are further away appear disproportionately small in the camera image. This is a very important point and you will learn to adapt to it while driving, just by getting used to it. The harness connects to two circuits in the fuse box with a smart circuit accessory to provide additional power to the display. . However, there are different form factors of automotive fuses. The product comes with low profile mini taps that will not fit other types of fuses. As a result, my installation was delayed while I waited for a tech support response with the right clicks. If you know what fuses your car uses, it's best to buy a few beforehand. Chain selection is essential for proper display operation and storing date and time settings. You will probably find that your car breaks many electrical circuits when you start it. Follow the installation instructions carefully and avoid circuits that switch off when the engine is started. Unless your fuse box is labeled any better than mine, it will take a lot of trial and error to get this step right. It seems annoying and it is. (I wish I had this information when I started the installation.) However, I am convinced that the result will be worth it and the increased safety of cars with these cameras will save several lives. Five stars is a great product. Installation can use polishing.
