I love using candles for decoration. Her warm glow is homey and romantic. But there are also disadvantages. Using an open flame, even a small one, can be dangerous and candles should never be left unattended while burning. And a flame, even a small one, produces smoke that can leave residue on walls and ceilings. I first saw the Luminara candle in the form of a beautiful candle holder that a friend gave me when I moved in. I was right over it before realizing it was a flameless candle. How could a flameless candle flicker so realistically? I've seen "flickering" flameless candles before and not been impressed. But this candle was of a different class altogether. When I read that the technology for these candles was developed by Disney for the Haunted Mansion, it started to make sense. Whatever else is said about Disney, they are technological pioneers and are good at all things tech. These candles are pricey, I found out after buying a few more right away, but they're worth it for their realism and ease of use. I wish the brand had more colors but ivory goes with everything.
