I was under the impression it was sealed as it was advertised for aquarium lighting. Well, the ones I got with the back (back) side of the LEDs exposed. Maybe I received an unfinished product? It's basically an LED ribbon cable, and the connectors on the ribbon cable are exposed. Also, I'm not sure if the connectors are copper plated. Then it is extremely dangerous for some aquarium fish species that do not tolerate copper in the water. If you want to insert it into the top cover (lid) of the aquarium, you need to fill the exposed area with silicone or hot glue. Since condensation can cause a short circuit, this is extremely dangerous around water and a potential problem with copper. Got this to replace a burned out Aqueon Minibow Aquarium LED. So I had to fix it to use it. I used hot glue to fill in the open spine and used two zip ties to attach it to the inside of the hood (I drilled two holes). It also doesn't come with a USB power adapter, so hopefully you have an extra one. I recommend a 5V @ 1A USB power adapter to keep the lights bright. Not sure if this led strip is dimmable - it's pretty bright for me so I'm very happy with it. So I'm rating it 3 stars because it's not 100% sealed and doesn't provide a USB adapter. But I love that there's something to grab when those little tank LEDs burn out. I would buy it again if I need more. All in all it's good but not great as I had to waterproof it before installing it.
