This is a review of Original Hikvision USA DS-HD1 Hikvision 3 Megapixel Video Intercom with Video Smart Video Intercom. Purchased in October 2020. Conclusion: I give this 1 star because it was difficult for a techie and wouldn't be easy for a beginner (those who might like Ring). Would I buy it again? Yes, for my back door and also for this year's Christmas gifts. So put money in my mouth. The fisheye lens distorts the image a bit, but I think anyone who is serious about this camera ($120) knows that it's not for photography. Placement is crucial and backlight can create dark faces so make sure you take that into account. along with day and night shots. Pros: - Hikvision. I love this brand. Solid and just works. I bought about 22 Hikvision cameras for multiple apartments. - Compatible with Synology DS video surveillance system. - The installation guide was easy and all the required hardware was included. - Good video, good audio mic (let it be true, it's a fisheye lens) - Hik - Connect is a good app and app for me now. - Good motion detection. - Motion detection has a "chirp" to let people know they are being watched (you can turn off the sound). Cons: - Instructions for connecting the system were confusing. with a verification code and a link to softap_ABCDEF which I think most people think of as a password. Others have called it. There are no instructions on how to connect to the NAS. A guessing game indeed. - It is not possible to set the IP address manually, you must use DHCP. This is important to me as I keep all my cameras in one IP range segment to monitor and provide port monitoring/access. - No web interface... just use the app. - In the Hik-Connect app, all other Hikvision cameras have a live thumbnail, but the doorbell only has an icon. Since it's ONVIF compliant, you'd think a live thumbnail could be displayed.
