This part works great with the Garmin friction mount I already had. I was very happy to find this as I don't have a GPS system in my car and rely on the GPS phone app. I have a small car so apparently I had to turn it upside down on a ball joint to fit in my car. I have a small car and in normal mode it protruded too much on the dashboard and became unstable. Now it is very stable. Also, I love that it's so portable, just pick it up and take it to another car when you need it. I've added photos so you can see mine upside down, with and without the phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy 8+ with Otterbox and it fits great. The phone in the picture is a Samsung Galaxy 7 with an Otterbox Defender case and it fits. I highly recommend it. It's just a phone attachment. The Garmin friction mount must be purchased separately.
