Handy little radio. I love how all the controls, display and speaker are integrated into a very powerful handheld microphone as it can deliver very clear sound. Custom installation. For those who want to customize and remote mount the "guts box", tucked away somewhere or just further than the mic cable reaches, you can breathe easy as the handheld mic cable connection is a standard Cat5 type. For my setup I attached the handheld mic to the dash with a black plastic mic holder (I did the same for my other two radios because I wanted them all to match and look less belated) and for the cable extension I used a dual RJ45 uses plug with socket. A socket mounted in a three hole wall plate (like you might see in an office LAN) and with patient Dremel work and plastic epoxy welding mounted flush to the wall plate in the dash, from there I routed a 15- Category 5 foot wire Along the car's wiring harness along the passenger side rocker panel to the notch in the plastic part of the quarter panel trim where I installed it using the supplied guide in the bracket which was fitted with a set of small screws was installed, power comes from (I have c unplug the cigarette lighter and put a pair of ring terminals on the ends of the wires) a marine fuse box that I installed under the passenger seat, which connects the battery via a 1/0 gauge -Welding cable powered. This radio makes it easy to do a clean custom install without "gut boxes" taking up passenger space and an eyesore in the cabin.
