OK if you wear a hat but it still gets hot

My previous set of these things broke after 10 years. I bought them as a backup. (I've since switched to tactical hearing protection, which costs three times as much.) I have some sort of earmuff so I can wear earmuffs and not feel pressure on my head. These muffs also allow me to take my hat off and adjust it or keep my hair out of the way. They work great, but my large bowler hat required me to bend a wire behind my neck to fit my head. For real. The constant pressure of the hearing protection on my shooting glasses also causes pain after 8 hours at the shooting range. Overall, it's a great value and a great backup. Now for the cons. Requires 4 AAA batteries. That's a lot of batteries. An AAA fits my new hearing protection. The earmuffs have a low profile (rifle and shotgun friendly) but there is little clearance underneath. They're getting HOT! If you accidentally drop the couplers, one of the batteries could be knocked out of the holder and you will have to disassemble the coupler to put the battery back in. day in the week. There is no low battery indicator so they just stop working. Each side has an individual volume control. Why? Mine are always at 100% to keep up with the shooting range situation. BUT very little force is required to engage the OFF latch. Returning the muff to the shooting bag can put the muff back on. I took some white paint and drew a line on the handle and clutch to indicate the OFF position.
