The latch, handle and hinges are held in place by a simple metal tab that is inserted into a slot, cut into the material and bent to secure. My latch was not properly fastened. Too high = box did not close completely. Too far from center = box had to be loaded for the latch to click. This caused the upper part to wobble when the latch was closed. I say "closed" for lack of a better word as there was about 1/8 inch of room to close the lid so it could close completely. I took off the bottom part of the clasp and put it back on. with cement putty, since cutting out new cracks will block the old cracks and it is not worth returning them. Everything else was as it should be. The quality is definitely not like the lunch boxes you might remember from the 1980s-1990s. Metal is definitely thinner and more prone to bending and wrinkling. Certainly much stronger than an aluminum can, but a little less durable than the highest quality cookie cutters you see at Christmas. You can easily deform this thing by squeezing it with your bare hands.
