I bought this item as a monitor stand. However, when I bought it, I wasn't expecting much. I've never dealt with composite materials. When the package arrived it was very well packed and well protected. I noticed that his weight was good too. As I unfolded each piece, I realized how beautifully made it was. It was a hard, smooth composite with no rough sawdust edges. Good ending. All edges have also been finished, unlike many pieces where the back is left untreated. Assembly was pretty easy, took me about 10 minutes. The instructions were pretty clear. Although the cam locks in the illustration can be confusing at first. I just checked them beforehand to make sure I have the right direction. I had a bit of trouble installing the shelf myself as you had to hold it with one hand while tightening the screw with the other. I made it pretty easy for myself once I figured it out. When it was together I was very satisfied. I bought a 16.7" pad. The keyboard doesn't slide under it, but that's not my intention. I use it for a monitor and a shelf to keep my notes and accessories on or under it. I have to say. I do am not a newbie to DIY furniture.I have bought and collected many Sauder and Ikea products in my life.After receiving and building this product I checked out other Fitueyes products at Revain to see what I could add to my collection I could add, I am convinced of their quality.
