My daughter is 3.5 years old she is big and tall for her age we took 4-6 and she barely fits. She doesn't care, she pushes into him every day and loves him. she even sleeps in it. We cut out the crotch so she can wear it to school on costume day (potty training is tricky when you have to undress completely) and now we just have to tug it down periodically to keep it from riding up. It doesn't matter, the baby will never take it off if I let him. She is also VERY picky about her clothes, has no tags, doesn't itch or pinch and loves the silky feel. It's so worn that the skirt frays and rubs, the bodice is stained. Therefore, he is not resistant to the abuse he experiences. I will buy more for Christmas.
