My Xbox 360 walked into the red ring of death twice. After the second time I asked a local friend to fix the problem and he informed me that the last error was due to overheating even though the console was in a well ventilated area. So I looked for cooling solutions to extend the life of my console and chose TS. The two biggest draws are the ability to work horizontally (I witnessed the wreck of a brand new copy of Call of Duty. Can't stand on the side anymore for me) and not draw power from the console. The device attaches to the rear vents, adding more power to heat dissipation. Measured by the temperature of the data medium removed from the tray after several hours of use, the fans do their job perfectly. The only complaint is the noise. Most other reviews say it's not bad, and they would be right, but that shouldn't mean it's quiet. The noise level is comparable to the noise produced when the built-in fans are running at full power. This noise is enough to be distracting when watching videos, but doesn't usually interfere with gameplay given the volume I'm playing at. Considering that the console makes such noises on its own anyway, I'm not judging the noise compared to the Intercooler TS. but know what you get. I consider this a fair trade for the extended life of my 360.
