The picture is a bit deceptive in the rain dog print, they look pink but don't worry they are definitely red! I ordered a matching terry lined coat in red so I was sure of the color before ordering. My son loves wellies and currently has a size 11 pair of Crocs so I ordered a size 12 when he outgrows his current pair. With the extra fabric and tighter cut, they fit more like an 11, so you might want to order a size up. Compared to Crocs: Crocs are thinner, lighter and one piece. If your kid will be wearing them like regular shoes even when it's not raining (like my 4 year old!), Crocs might be a better buy as they're lighter and don't slow them down as much. We definitely prefer Crocs for their fit and functionality, but my son loves the prints so much he will likely order another pair in the future.
