The downside is that the suction cup lid (while functional) takes up space inside the cup, so it won't hold 12 ounces of liquid - only about 10 ounces or the liquid will spill out of the tip . This is less of a travel mug and more of a nice reusable mug to take to the office or stroll around a coffee shop. It keeps your drink hot a little longer than a paper cup and can be reheated in the microwave (although I would never recommend reheating coffee in the microwave). I like the sliding drinking hole. Easy to clean with warm water and dish soap! So far no stains or weird smell. Compared to metal cups, this is light years better. All in all, if you know what to expect and aren't trying to take it with you on a hike, this is a great reusable mug option.
