I LOVE the sound of these speakers and they look great. I use them for home theater and listening to music. They replaced my Sony receiver, floorstanding speakers and 5.1 home theater speakers. The system is self-powered, so you don't need a receiver to power your speakers. The sound is great and the large subwoofer provides an impressive base (I put the subwoofer on a stand to keep the upstairs neighbor from falling out of bed). Tremble!). The sound is very clear, and the basics and sound effects are played with noticeable weight (push!) without being "loud" or overwhelming the speakers. When watching movies, the speakers create a cinematic experience by reproducing sound effects with surround sound. They're a great choice for my entertainment space, ok. 300 sq feet and is much better than comparable systems that cost 2-3 times as much. I find the speakers work just as well in larger spaces like basements, open living rooms, etc. I connected the included (one each) optical and auxiliary cables to my TV/DVD and iPhone/iPad and played various genres of podcasts, music and videos. Everything sounded good. The system does not support Bluetooth (I stream radio and watch entertainment apps on my TV or iPad/iPhone). Installation was easy and hassle free. Speaker setup took less than 10 minutes, and the wireless rear speakers and subwoofer connect automatically. Convenient wireless rear speakers and a subwoofer meant you didn't have to waste time wiring them around the room. Use a soft-tipped pen and gently press the area behind the rear speakers and subwoofer (see owner's manual). Edifier Technical Support Manager Brian and his staff have been great in helping me and answering my questions. The remote control is a nifty little metal gray box. It performs various functions, so feel free to experiment with it. Hopefully they will add more control features in the next generation. For detailed specifications (cable lengths, etc.) refer to the manual on Revain or Edifier's website. The following may be helpful: The volume can be set individually for each speaker. and can be used to increase the sound level if needed. I figured out how to set up the sound and it's no problem. Consider purchasing speaker stands. Suggestion for improvement: It would be nice if the front speakers were also wireless for more freedom of movement and added Bluetooth (I understand there's a technical reason why they don't currently have it).
