At least for me with my iPhone 8 plus with Apple Leather Case (these cases are not thick at all) it attaches and charges but slowly slides off the faceplate while driving and the phone just slips and falls off after 10 minutes. I know they redesigned their Qi mount probably for the same reason and they just had to enlarge it with 4 magnets at the top and bottom like their other mounts , and they did it and decided it once and for all. The mount will probably work with a non-Plus iPhone, but not with these big ones. I'm also very disappointed as I was dying to buy this new model to see if it worked. Scosche makes great products but I'm afraid they need to go back to the drawing board with this Qi charger. I called their tech support and the rep suggested attaching the metal plates to the outside of my leather case. I do not think so. This would defeat the purpose of the beautiful leather case and pretty much ruin it if it had to be removed. ARRGHH. I made a big mistake by throwing the crate away before extensive testing, so it's mine now. I can try using it for desktop use or try putting double sided tape on the face to make it more sticky. Another problem is that now with the split plate design (small plate on top and bottom) exposing the Qi charging coil, the phone can't be attached to my old Scosche magnetic mounts. I'd like someone to standardize so case makers can incorporate metal plates into their cases.
