Such a thin construction, bread simply doesn't fit, let alone the filling between bread slices. It's a shame because it toasts the sandwich well, but you end up with such a huge mess. I don't think a few slices of cheese on a sandwich is overkill and we used regular slices of bread, nothing too big or anything. I've used it three times now and it's always a pain in the neck to put it out. Also, I have to make our sandwiches more and more scarce—like a piece of cheese. They also bump into each other when preparing two sandwiches. I SO wanted this to work, but it's nothing like the sandwich makers I've had in the past. Disappointed but keeping it until I find something suitable as a replacement.
