I bought memory foam straight cylinder shape neck pillow (with bamboo cover) and it was too hard. As I lay on my back in bed with him on my neck, he gave my neck and head back too much. It's much looser/flexible and you can slide the beads through to be tighter or less tight under your neck as you see fit. And the longer and extra long strap on this bracelet allows you to use it in a loose or tight U-shape if you prefer. I found the medium U shape also supports my head from side to side while using it. In addition, these microgranules imparted a pleasant feeling of warmth. I don't sleep on my back at all and have taken a few naps with it. I highly recommend this micro bead over any neck memory foam while lying on your back.
