I covered the base with sand, inflated the bag and then deflated it over the course of a day before each use. I tried patching what I thought was a small hole but to no avail. A day later it exploded again. This is a small, slow leak and is therefore difficult to detect. If you buy this you can inflate the bag to check for leaks before attempting to fill the base, which isn't easy when using sand - using a funnel helped. Water would be a lot easier than sand, but I wanted to keep it indoors, so sand seemed like a better choice. At this point I have to clear the base of the sand which is dirty to get back and it's just not worth it.
