Review on Noctua NF-P12 redux-1300 PWM Quiet Fan - Ultimate Performance at 1300 RPM (120mm, Grey) by Adam Rossi

Quiet fan, cheap price

Noctua is known for its good fans in two ugly colors. I needed a pair of fans, so I decided to try two NF-P12 Redux fans, which were designed to run on air pressure. This is one 1300RPM fan, the other is noctua NF-P12 redux-1700 PWM High Performance Silent 120mm Fan, ideal for PC Case, CPU Heatsink and Water Cooling Heatsink, Award winning premium model in affordable gray reduction. Two shades of gray instead of brown and brown. Colors aren't the best, but better. They don't have rubber feet. In my case I can't say it matters. They don't hop around. Both fans are very similar. Speed Test: If I set them below 25%, they still run at minimum speed. 1300s run from about 350 to 1300 rpm, 1700s from about 500 to 1680 rpm. Sound: At or below 1000 rpm they are silent. At 1100 rpm I start to hear them. At 13:00 they can be heard clearly. The full fan speed at 1700 rpm makes a lot of noise. Conclusions. If you can set your own fan curve, I would suggest getting a 1700RPM fan. It's only 150 rpm faster at low revs, is still quiet up to 1000 rpm, can be comfortable up to 1300 rpm but can hit almost 1700 rpm when needed. On the other hand, if you can't control the fan speed and want it to run at full power, this 1300RPM fan is probably your best bet.

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
  • No mold required
