Review on Small Canvas Messenger Bag: Stylish Crossbody Shoulder Bag For Work And Everyday Use By Mygreen by Kaveen Restoration

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Over-delivers on practicality, finish and looks at a humble price point.

If you look, there are several ipad bags similar to this one, all in the $20 to $26 price range. This one was advertised for $20, but with $6 S&H. I was drawn to it for the magnetic closure on the front flap, and for the nice chocolate brown color of the zipper pulls. Though it offers 5 colors, I chose black which, as can be seen in the close-up views, is actually a nice charcoal gray. The canvas material has a lot of texture and a very slight acid wash finish which I like. The canvas handle strap and shoulder strap are both chocolate brown and complement the zipper pulls well.Pocket distribution inside and outside is excellent. My ipad air is in a Thule Atmos case, slim but quite rugged, and it fits in the back compartment inside a padded sleeve for extra protection. The back compartment also holds a plastic folder in which I keep letter size pages folded in half, about 1/2 inch thick. The main compartment holds two medium or one Bible sized books, with two good internal pockets for ipad chargers, cables, etc. The front pocket is also generous and can handle a small Kindle or mini ipad. All inside pockets are nylon lined (dark brown, unfortunately) except for the back portion of the front pocket. The side pockets are too narrow for a cell phone in a decently protective case, but are great for pens and highlighters. Two zipper pockets on the front flap and the back will only hold narrow items like folded plastic bags (the bag is not waterproof) or a cell phone. There is also a zipper pocket on the inside of the back flap, again only for thin items. The magnetic closure for the front flap delivers a good combination of sufficient sticking power with ease of use. Fit and finish, while very good, are not up to the rugged pro level of, say, a Think Tank photo or laptop bag. But hey, those are at a three times higher price point. This bag gave me a first impression of being too small. But that was followed by a pleasant surprise. It turns out that I had gotten used to larger bags to carry around all my stuff, while this bag, thanks to its excellent design, handles everything in a noticeably smaller package. So instead of the weakness of being too small, this bag has the virtue of outstanding compact efficiency.Five stars for over-delivering on practicality, finish and looks at a much appreciated humble price point.

Pros
  • Its compact size makes it easy to take with you wherever you go
Cons
  • Gets heavy quickly with even small items
