The switches are fine but I can't get the remote to work. "The entire remote needs to re-learn from the receiver to restart. "BUT? Finally I got it: I pressed the button on the switch 8 times as described. I took the remote straight to the switch where the red light was flashing and it connected successfully. FYI, the ON button controls turning it on and off, the OFF button does nothing.
