I bought this for my 2015 MacBook Air to offer everything you can get for various peripherals but also mostly with an external monitor. While I've paid close attention to some of the issues people were having, I haven't seen anywhere that it "doesn't work" with a VGA connection. I tried various things to get it working with MACOS 10.13.3 and got "no signal" on the monitor. Then I saw that there were problems with 10.13.4 BUT the beta fix might fix it. I upgraded my Mac to it and uninstalled the beta, reinstalled it. This time I got rid of the "no signal" (kinda), but after trying all the tricks on the DisplayLink software page (which triggers this) and Apple further, nothing works. However, I was assured that "Apple is working on it". I declined. The device works great with mouse, keyboard, printer. Goal. I would suggest if hooking up a VGA monitor is your goal that you put off (if you have a Mac).
