The item I received could be defective: when I unplug the charging cable from the hub, the HDMI disconnects and does NOT automatically reconnect. I am using a Macbook (12 inch, early 2016). Updated Review: The Anker team contacted me and sent me a replacement product. The Anker replacement sleeve works great. Disconnecting the charging cable from the hub will disconnect HDMI (which is normal for an HDMI hub), but HDMI should reconnect immediately afterwards. I'm changing my rating from 2 to 5 stars for good and fast customer service and replacement items.
