I'm using this on my new 2018 15" MacBook Pro. When the laptop is closed and I'm using the monitor as my only display, HDMI only works when I have a charger plugged in. It is not a problem when the MacBook is open and the monitor is used as a second screen with the power adapter.. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to work or I just received a slightly faulty hub otherwise all ports work good and the design is nice.

The item I received could be defective: when I unplug the charging cable from the hub, the HDMI disconnects and does NOT automatically reconnect. I am using a Macbook (12 inch, early 2016). Updated Review: The Anker team contacted me and sent me a replacement product. The Anker replacement sleeve works great. My wife uses this hub with her Razer Stealth. She loves it and her desk looks great and clean with just a USB cable dangling behind her monitor. The USB port on the hub connects to her monitor's USB hub to give her more ports.
