Review on Floral Engraving Tanned Vintage Leather by James Trapkin

Very thin coloring, mostly imperceptible in my experience

I bought the dark brown version of this belt in autumn 2012. colorful belt. The paint/paint on the belt is either very thin or very faded. If you look very, very closely you will see that there is a very light coloring to it. (Maybe it looks better on a tan belt.) But you would never guess that I have the same belt shown in the product image (dark brown). Mine looks more like a brown belt with some sort of etched detail. The belt is characterized as having a "soft feel". I'm not quite sure what that means. It's not as stretchy and flexible as the other "soft arm" strap I also bought this year. My particular belt also had quite a rough texture on the inside and around the edges. It was a little reminiscent of suede, but wasn't as soft or diaper-like as the suede-backed belts. (In fact you can see the roughness in the product image if you mouse over it to zoom in.) I rubbed mine with some oil and it got smoother. Genuine leather belt, and for the money it's a pretty good belt. If a great colorful design on leather is important to you, you may be disappointed. (I considered getting a few bottles of skin color in different colors and re-doing the "paintwork" but eventually gave up the extra effort, especially as I was fine with the very subtle, mostly custom color scheme in principle. - flashy coloring of the original Again, this would probably be a fun project...) Conclusion: If you're looking for a belt that will stop traffic, this particular option might be the way to go.. Based on my experience (and that of at least another reviewer) with a lack of dye/color vibrancy (and/or fastness), you might consider additional insurance in the form of an attention-getting buckle should you receive a specimen with the same design sophistication as my exhibits. (Fortunately this is a belt with a buckle so you can buckle the buckle of your choice.)
