Good but not SuperDrive compatible

I've had this USB hub for over a year now and overall it's good and useful. Sometimes it loosens up a bit. When I recently took the hub, my SuperDrive, and some DVDs with me on vacation, I found that the hub doesn't work with the Apple SuperDrive DVD player. It says so in the description but I missed or forgot about it a year after purchase. My husband makes fun of me for buying Apple products because they can be so limited, especially on price, in which case it's hard to argue with him. Why Apple won't put USB ports in its laptops anymore when the rest of the world is still using them is beyond me.
