I have had lots of experience over the years with tie down straps. I usually buy ratchet type but wanted a less complicated setup to hold a 60# trolling motor battery in a canoe. I'll use 2 so strength will not be an issue. The straps on these are a decent thickness, not that blowing in the wind, getting tangled up lightweight straps you get at the big cheapo tool outlet. The cam itself is heavyweight and has extremely aggressive teeth to grip the strap which I like. Most cams systems have smooth ridges that tend to slip with vibration and use. The cam teeth will definitely hold and might damage the strap in the long run if used in the same position hundreds of times. But so what? My priority is function and at this price you can afford to go through a few straps. Great Value and Function!UPDATE 10/10/2019: I still like this item but have a strong suggestion before using. I praised the holding power of the strap but maybe it's a little TOO good. After several uses I have found the very aggressive teeth on the cam buckle will frequently imbed in the strap and make it impossible to loosen without snagging the strap. Simple solution: hold the cam lock all the way open so all the teeth show, gently run a metal file across the teeth to take the sharp points off the teeth. Files easily as the buckle is pot metal. This will give you a buckle that will hold aggressively but release easily. Again, this is a great buckle strap and a great value, I like it even more now with slight modification.
