Review on Aputure Amaran AHL HN100 Flash Camera by Isaac Simpson

I like to take a lot of close-ups, but without a flash or with the camera's built-in flash it's almost impossible to get a really decent shot. I bought an Aputure Amaran Halo Ring hoping to solve this problem. I have a Nikon D3100 camera. I've included three rough close-ups to show the difference between the following: 1. Using the camera's built-in pop-up flash, 2. Using a non-flash flash, 3. Using a ring flash. My camera has a Nikon 18-55mm zoom lens attached with a Kenko 36mm extension. The lens is set to 55mm with autofocus disabled, I focused manually. Here are the settings for each image: Built-in Flash; ISO=100, F=f/8, S=1/60 No flash; ISO=3200, F=f/36, S=5 ring flashes; ISO=3200, F=f/36, S=1/5. I'm sure better adjustments can be made as this was just a quick experiment, but obviously a ring flash will definitely do the job better than anything else. The 8 supplied transfer rings have the following lens sizes in mm (no lens focal lengths): 49, 52, 55, 58, 62, 67, 72 and 77. The ring threads are of course the same. like the front of the lens, but since all these transfer rings are plastic and therefore easily damaged, you need to be careful and very patient when screwing onto lenses! The price is really good for this flash as there are cool features like flash mode where your camera obviously controls the flash, lamp mode where all 100 leds are lit, left mode where only all leds are on the left side to shine. Right mode, in which all LEDs are only on the right side, the entire LED area can be rotated to any angle, so instead of left or right it can be up and down, or any other desired angle. The unit that fits into your camera's hot shoe contains 4 AA batteries. I've only just started to use the full potential of this ring flash, so I love it, and if you're a Nikon owner, chances are you will too. !
