If you're thinking of buying a shock collar, don't! Instead, I strongly recommend you to buy this "E-Collar". After arguing with myself about needing this high quality device instead of the typical $50-75 collar, I'm so glad I chose the EZ Educator! I spent the first 3 years of my canine life working with him on commands. and obedience. It's really half the battle. He just needed that little extra reinforcement, especially in high distraction situations where his excitement/adrenaline was causing him to have temporary misjudgments. Well after only 2 months of working with him, Mohegan was free on the beach last weekend having the time of his life! He even walked to and from the house off a leash! (Note: Please know your dog. All dogs are different. One dog may go off the leash after a few days of training, while another dog should never be off the leash. Know your dog and never put him in situations that could injure or kill him.) Now my dog was probably ready to go off the leash much sooner. But just to be on the safe side, I kept working with him until I was sure he was okay. At the moment I walk him in the city center (i.e. in places with a lot of traffic) while still on a leash. Know your dog again. It's just more responsible for me to walk a dog on a leash in the city. After purchasing this item, I held it to my neck and slowly increased the signal strength. I wanted to understand what a dog might experience. I went through stages ranging from mild irritation to severe discomfort. That's the beauty of this device. This allows you to work at a very low level when training your dogs. No need to keep blowing up your dog! Especially if he's just learning commands. I personally love this product! I'm so happy I bought it. My dog now obeys my commands without constant collar correction. It was worth every penny!
