I'm guessing this is a brand new updated design because we backordered a previous purchase about a month ago. Paid same price, same seller, different design (although when reordered it showed the same picture as the first one we bought). The other had controls at the top front and was 8 inches taller. All controls on the top. Both have the same power, heat and power output. The three main differences are the control panel, the height, and the fact that this smells like burnt electronics when running. Last night (first night of use) we assumed he was breaking in and the 'new guy' was burning and he seemed gone. It was so overwhelming tonight that I have a bad taste in my mouth (literally) and a headache so I keep turning it off. There doesn't seem to be a safe line between that smell, which literally causes health problems, and the smell of burnt cord coming from the heater. didn't burn down my house because of a faulty heater. I plugged it into a GFI outlet at least for protection. We were lucky with the first one, except for the missing rubber feet on the base. It also smelled the first time it was used but after that it was gone forever. Although this smell makes me nervous. Note: the controls on top of the flat-top were a terrible idea, especially with the remote control. It was necessary to make it at least wedge-shaped for visibility. The controls of the old design were much better thought out. I only give it three stars because it heats up and the device is almost silent.
