These are great looking, quality bar stools sold for a competitive price. There are a couple weaker aspects to them that can be cheaply remedied to make them even better.First, as other reviewers have mentioned, the wood seat on top is quite rough-hewn. It looks like they simply cut a piece of wood to fit, gave it a one-coat stain, and called it good. After discussing with a craftsman acquaintance, I followed his recommendation to seal the wood using Minwax Polycrylic (pictured). We used clear satin, not wanting too glossy a finish. The can was good for 4 coats on all four stools, and it seemed to need all those coatings to properly seal due to how rough and porous the wood is. 220 fine grit sandpaper was used after the 2nd and 3rd coatings to help keep the sealant uniform. The photos show the finished product. The seat feels much nicer this way and less likely to splinter or absorb spills.Second, the feet of the stool feel like a hard plastic rather than rubber, and the center part of it doesn't sit quite flush on some of them. Rubbing a finger across the surface you can feel a sharp edge on some. I was concerned with what this might do to a nice wood floor, so covered the feet with 1-inch diameter felt furniture pads (also pictured with the sealer).If these two aspects were to be addressed by the manufacturer, they would be a solid 5 stars. Total cost for the above remedies was about $15 and an hour total of work.
