Advertised as a flat mirror. I realized it was convex when I saw my reflection. I pressed it against the wall mirror and measured the image of the door frame on the opposite wall. This mirror makes images three times smaller. I originally bought the left mirror. It barely reached the end of the steering wheel, so I could barely see anything but my hand. I had to turn it right upside down. The left one was more important so I bought this right mirror to mount it upside down on the left. It was an expensive decision and the results left a lot to be desired. I have to look far down to look in mirrors and the images are quite small. I had several motorcycles and bicycles. All mirrors were flat so I could see better. All had long stems. The long run had three advantages. This pulled the mirror out so I could see past my hand. The mirror was raised so I could see without taking my eyes off the road ahead. This brought the mirror closer to my face for a wider field of view. Before I bought these bike mirrors I was looking for an old style. I haven't seen any. UPDATE: I found a nice one from Sunlite. The photos show how much better I can see the car just 100 feet behind me.
