Bunn Explains How It Works

Bunn coffeemakers are designed and work differently than any other coffeemaker you will ever own. Before you buy one, it's important to understand how and why. It took me quite a while to read their website and reviews and even then it took me one of them to really understand them. I hope this saves you time. First let me say that I bought this car myself with no discounts or promotions. bun. You owe me something! I bought my first ban a few months ago after careful research and I love it. Over the past 10 years I've owned several Mr. Kaffee and Nespreso, and I've had coffee from various other machines at friends'. I figured that all homemade coffee tasted bad and burned, and I blamed the coffee bean companies for that. Only now do I understand that everything was ruined by the design of the car. To understand Bunn, you must first realize that the functional design of every other coffee maker on the market is wrong. These coffee makers stand still, waiting for you to say you want a cup of coffee, and then begin boiling water and directing the hot water onto the ground coffee. The result of this process is that you are waiting indefinitely. literally waiting for the water to boil. For 5-10 minutes, and then drink the result of boiling water poured over coffee grounds (bitterness). Bunn's approach is that a) you don't have to wait for the water to boil; and b) the temperature of the boiled water (212F) is not suitable for making good coffee. Banna's carafe (for my model at least) holds about 10 cups of water, but the water tank in the car holds 20. And THAT is the genius of their design. . Why does the machine hold twice as much water as the carafe? The Bunn coffee maker features an internal stainless steel hot water tank that ALWAYS holds exactly 10 cups of water at the ideal temperature for brewing coffee. When you fill the carafe and pour it into the machine, the machine uses the new cold water to displace the existing hot water. As a result, the available hot water immediately begins to flow for grinding. After about 5 seconds the coffee will begin to flow evenly into the pot and this first 5 seconds is the time it takes for the coffee grounds/filter to soak. It's instant. The flow is also a bit heavier/faster and within 2 minutes (faster if you don't fill the whole pot) you're completely done. The speed of this car will blow your mind. Also, the temperature of the water that the machine holds is around 195F. the right temperature for good coffee. Why does coffee from your existing machine always taste burnt? The design of these machines is based on boiling water. This is how water moves through the system. Boiling water is 212F and at this temperature the water will burn the beans resulting in a bitter taste. No, it's not beans or even plastic. It's the water temperature that will ruin your morning coffee. Instantly, all that bitter store-bought coffee tasted delicious. Smooth; smooth. delicious. with flavors I've never noticed before. Suddenly I had to go back and re-buy every brand/type of coffee I had ever written off so I could re-evaluate. It literally changed my whole idea of coffee. Well, not all coffee you buy at the store is delicious. Deluxe beans will always be better, but overall, this machine has greatly evolved the needle for everyone. I used to rate every coffee I've ever made at home from C to F. Now it's A through C, and even the worst private label cup is almost as good as the best elite beans from previous brewers. Between brewing speed and amazing results, this machine is AMAZING. There are a few other design notes to keep in mind: - There is no "on" button to start the brewing process. Keep in mind that the water is already hot waiting and the process uses displacement so no electronic devices are required to brew coffee. There are two on/off switches (they glow blue when on) that perform other functions as follows: This should always be on unless you're going on vacation (and even then you can just turn it off) . That's probably why they pushed that switch so far back. You won't even see it unless you look for it. b) There is an on/off button on the front of the machine that everyone thinks starts making coffee. It is not. This on/off switch simply controls the stove under the carafe. You can activate it if you want or not. It doesn't matter if you don't try to keep the already brewed coffee hot for a long time. The process of making coffee begins with closing the lid, where you pour in new water. I haven't opened the machine to see exactly how it works, but it appears that the lid pushes on a small lever that opens an internal mechanism, allowing new cold water to displace the existing hot water. That's the hardest part, getting used to this car. First you need to press a button to start the process. it would be embarrassing not to. seconds. Remember not to close the lid until the jug is in place, otherwise the coffee will overflow. No matter how much water you pour, the machine dispenses exactly the same amount, drop by drop. There are always exactly 10 cups of water in the car. If you pour 3 more cups, you get exactly 3 cups of hot water. I tested it and the accuracy is impeccable. Remember what I said earlier. The carafe holds 10 cups and there are already 10 cups of hot water waiting for you in the car, but the internal tank holds up to 20 cups. This allows you to fill the carafe completely and pour it out at once without the machine overflowing. Likewise. The filling area of the machine is large. Straight forward and easily accessible (unlike Mr. Coffee) and the water just pours in without splashing, bouncing or overflowing. About 5 minutes after your coffee is ready, the machine will turn on automatically. Heat fresh water to the desired temperature. It's not too loud or annoying, but you can hear it if you're in the same room. Another 5 minutes to heat up the coffee - The ground brew is great. The flow is very fast, and yet no grist is left on the filter when the grinder basket is removed. I've never seen a single dregs get into a coffee pot. Also, I have to turn the basket upside down over the trash and the used filter/soil will come out clean. I usually pour water on an empty basket out of habit. but I probably don't need it. There is never a remainder. The instructions state that at least 4 cups of water should be poured into the machine for each batch. The carafe also has at least 4 cups. This bothered me as I often just want to make one cup. Every day I fill the mug with water, pour it in and then put the mug where the carafe should be and the machine works fine and fills it with coffee to the same level. I don't know why they said there was at least 4 cups and maybe I'm kind of slowly damaging the machine without obeying them, but it works great. If I had one complaint about this car, it would be hot. Plate. The heating plate gets too hot (just like every other machine on the market). The result of leaving it on for too long. you guessed thick dark bitter coffee. I recommend using the burner for short periods of time, 20-30 minutes maximum. It would also be great if the stove switched itself off after a while. Overall, I cannot recommend this machine enough. The coffee is so smooth and delicious that you will never come back.
