Review on Chefn Nesting Pumpkin Inches Orange by Donia Carey

The knife works well and is generally of good quality, but I have a few issues with one tool.

For some reason, every Halloween I bought a new set of these super cheap pumpkin carving tools, which go for about $2.99 at big stores. They basically fall apart after a use or two. I repeat. When I saw they were available through Vine I grabbed them - finally something strong and durable! And also. You seem up to the task. The instruments make a well-made and robust impression. The knife/saw guard is convenient and reduces the number of items you need to store. Functional. I like the knife the most - it's really very easy to carve a design with it compared to a knife. It also helps you avoid those "narrow back" holes that I sometimes cut with a knife (if you're finely trimming the front of the design, but the knife was inclined so that when you push the piece out, the hole in the back (inside the pumpkin) is very small! ) It would have been nice to have a thinner knife/saw for detail work, but this works for most "classic" designs. A spoon is good too - its relatively short handle makes it easier to maneuver in the pumpkin. I've used it more as a scraper as it's too shallow to work, as well as a goop shovel - it works much better/quicker if you just grab the insides with your hands as always. The metal scraper is somewhat puzzling. It's too sharp in my opinion and only pokes into the pumpkin from the side, making it difficult to scratch. Plus, you don't need a sharp scraper—a blunt plastic spoon worked great. But my main complaint is that the edges of the TOP of the metal scraper (which shouldn't be sharp at all) are also VERY sharp, in a semi dangerous way. I think it's just a manufacturing issue as it's made from cut/stamped metal and the edges are just "raw" unintentionally. I actually cut my finger badly because you didn't expect THIS part to be very sharp, so be careful. All in all, if you can get this set for a really good price, the knife and spoon combo is a great all-around pumpkin tool and might be worth your while. But I don't like the metal scraper, which doesn't make the overall cost that high when you consider it.

Pros
  • HOUSEHOLD: Designed to make tools durable and easy to store; The shovel, scraper and saw can be folded up and stowed safely and conveniently in a drawer.
Cons
  • Requires socket
