Just buy Hyperkin HDTV Cables for PS2/PS1 instead

I bought this to play Champions of Norrath and subsequent Champions: Return to Arms on my 55" TCL 4k TV. Simply put, it looks like a gross, poorly scaled, blurry, and hard-to-read mess. There is another reviewer who posted photos of Champions: Return to Arms with this adapter and a second image with standard PS2 cables, and I swear mine looks exactly like the image he posted with standard cables. I tried changing the system settings and aspect ratio to 4:3 and 16:9 via the plugin and console settings but nothing helped. I ended up buying (https://www.amazon. com/Hyperkin-HDTV-Cable-PS2-playstation-2/dp/B07NSTDKHD/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1& keywords=Hyperkin+HDTV+Cable+for+PS2%2F+PS1&qid=1623885367&s=videogames&sr=1-2). , which should do the same thing, only it supplies an HDMI cable and I think it's easier to hide the little converter box. With this cable, my game looks almost perfect and I have no complaints about its quality. In short, save some money and go for a Hyperkin branded product instead because it just works. Plug it into the back of the PS2 output, connect the included USB power cable to the PS2 (this is how it works with thin and thick PS2s), then connect the HDMI port to your TV. Turn on the PS2 and it will power the adapter, which sends the signal to the TV. Easy. I also had quality issues when this adapter just "fell apart" at the seam and loosened the cable's rubber grommet, allowing it to dangle freely through the solder points. This can be very bad for connections. I didn't have this problem with any other Hyperkin cable.

Pros
  • Cables and Connections
Cons
  • Exorbitant Price
