The photos in the description clearly show the split screen comparison of a traditional component source upgraded to HD. IT DOES NOTHING! It's just a converter for TVs that only have HDMI ports. I fell for this trap and hooked up my PS2 to a 4k TV with no visual changes. But if that's all you need then I think it does the job well.

If you don't have RGB component cables, this product is great for connecting directly to HDMI TVs. The downside, however, is that it delivers RGB 480i, which looks great on a 60-inch 4k TV. This allows you to play videos with a resolution of 720 or 1080, but the quality is not very good. The text is blurry and slightly stretched. Although the sound is great. I bought this to connect my old playstation 2 to my new smart tv. Easy connection. One connection goes to the Playstation and the other to the HDMI input on your TV. The power cord can be plugged into a wall outlet or USB port. I just plugged the power cord into the Playstation's USB port. The video quality is ok but I have to pay attention to the age of this playstation. I can't compare it to more modern gaming consoles. Anyway it works and now I can play all my old games.

If your TV ONLY has HDMI inputs and does not have Composite AV (Red/White/Yellow) or Component AV (Green/Blue/Red), this will work for the PS2 playback on a modern TV. If your TV has RCA inputs there is no improvement over the 20 year old cables that came with the set save your money its a waste. On the other hand, if your TV has a component input, buy computer cables instead to get a much better picture on the screen. ONLY buy this if you have ONLY HDMI inputs and don't care about quality.

I have this device to play GT4 on my computer monitor and it works great. The 4:3 aspect ratio is the best for quality, while the other fills the screen more and doesn't look as good, but what do you expect, it really isn't. Keep in mind that this requires an external power source outside of the PS2 and monitor. It comes with a USB Micro-B, the same charger used in older Samsung models. As far as I know it doesn't actually charge, you have to keep it plugged in to use it, again no big deal. The

I bought this to play Champions of Norrath and subsequent Champions: Return to Arms on my 55" TCL 4k TV. Simply put, it looks like a gross, poorly scaled, blurry, and hard-to-read mess. There is another reviewer who posted photos of Champions: Return to Arms with this adapter and a second image with standard PS2 cables, and I swear mine looks exactly like the image he posted with standard cables.
