I bought this mat because I needed a larger mat than the ones I got at WalMart. The other at WalMart is much better constructed, with twisted lock channels that trap debris. This mat does not collect dirt in its grooves. It has a non-slip surface, but that's just as useful as its size. There was actually a lot of smoke coming out of this rug when it was opened. I put it outside to reduce exhaust fumes, but in the meantime I had to open all the windows to ventilate the house. The smell of the mat went away after a few days in the sun, but unfortunately it just isn't the best mat for litter collection. To update. My WalMart now carries a larger arm and hammer garbage mat almost the size of this one that actually catches and traps garbage, plus it's only $9.99. I feel cheated buying a PetFusion mat. I would return it but I don't think that's the right thing because it already had kitty litter all over it.
