Review on ๐Ÿ”€ Hosa SLW-333 Passive Audio Switcher - Convenient 1/4" TRS Input to 3x 1/4" TRS Output Solution by Pamela Hefton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great as a reference monitor choice. Heavy unit, solid construction. Passive so can be used "in reverse "

Should be sold as a reference monitor selector. Although the packaging says you can switch between 3 different audio sources on 1 output it is a totally passive device, I have used it in reverse for the past 5 years. You can connect 1 Line to its output jack and then connect its input jacks to different sets of active reference monitors or anything with a line. The box all have 1/4" TRS jacks. I connected line outputs from my audio interface to an output (yes, output .back) and then to each of the 3 inputs I have for monitors I have a Yamaha HS8 set, a KRK Rokit 5" set and finally a Soundfreaq (portable sound box) in the middle. This thing lets you A/B or A/B/C between large, medium and portable speakers to see your mix play out. The device is heavy and does not move when you turn the dial. I got my first used one about 6 years ago for $20. I knocked it off the table and one of the 1/4" connectors broke. On inspection I noticed someone had previously taped it. The connectors seem pretty solid, I would suggest if you're connecting some heavy cables have make sure they are resting on something so all the cable weight and torsion isn't on the sockets my used one lasted 5 years and someone fixed it but it's better to get active I have just bought another one here this week only to find out my local husband is fixing an old one for $30 great little box anyways very very good block here heavy block solid construction.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Poor guidance
