They work great whether you're playing with people online or throwing a party to play some games in the same house. We have four Xboxes and we have four of these devices and we all played Diablo together with no problems. It was a blast! We played without her, but it wasn't that fun or helpful to each other without a good way of communicating (in our house we were screaming lol). They're comfortable and light, but the sound is very good, with no echo unless you're sitting too close to someone else. We all played in different rooms and didn't have any echo problems, only when we went into each other's rooms there was some interference. They work perfectly if you have new Xbox controllers with a 3.5mm jack. If you have an older Xbox controller, you will need an adapter for it. This is the perfect headset for any family looking for one without breaking the bank.
