THE GOODIf you want pockets and storage options, I doubt you'll find anything better The separate bottom compartment, with a removable padded container, is a great idea. If you don't need the items in that section, you can easily remove the container and use the space for a jacket, food, or whatever.THE BADAfter using the bag for the first time on a 2-week trip, the shoulder straps began to rip out of the backpack. A few other design features could be better.Granted, my backpack was fully-loaded during this trip. Depending on my needs for the day, it carried 20-25 pounds of equipment. But when you consider a camera body, a couple heavier lenses with metal housings, a laptop, a tripod, and all the various batteries, chargers, accessories, etc., 20-25# isn't an unusually heavy load for a backpack. The backpack has separate pockets/compartments specifically designed for these items, so the bag is designed to carry all of them. I ended up taking the backpack to a shoe repair shop, and they were able to repair and reinforce the shoulder strap connection point.A FEW OTHER MINOR THINGS:- The handle could be thicker and stronger. I added a wrap-around padded suitcase grip for comfort, but given the issues with my shoulder straps, I am concerned that the handle will soon rip out of the bag.- the stitching where the handle connects to the bag is not reinforced.- There are a lot of straps, which is to be expected from a bag with some many features. However, some of the straps have an elastic loop to "tie down" the loose end of the strap, while other straps do not. I have no idea how they determined which straps would get loops and which straps would not. but I feel that all the straps should have these feature. The end result is that you have the ends of some straps dangling all over the place (I remedied the issue by purchasing wide strips pf black elastic and made my own tie-downs for the remaining straps)- The waist strip is well-padded and comfortable. It contains a small, zippered pocket that isn't good for much since it is so flat; but you could slip a manual or some memory cards in there. So, props to them for making the most of the space. But if you are like me and don't use these straps, you have the cushions and long straps dangling all over the place, making it easy for the bag to get caught on something. My previous bag had a pocket on the back that made it possible to fold back the waist padding/straps and keep them tucked out of the way, which is a feature that I'd like to see on the bag. I plan to take the bag to the same shoe-repair shop and have them cut off the straps and re-stitch the contact point so that it won't fray or begin to rip apart.FOR FREQUENT FLYERSI fly a lot, and when the bag is fully-loaded, it won't fit under the seat or in the smaller overhead bins of regional jets. You'll be OK for larger cross-country and international flights. Just be forewarned. Finding out that you must empty your backpack of valuable optics and stuff them in your other carry-on luggage is not fun, especially when you're sitting in your seat.A NOTE ABOUT LAPTOP SIZEEvecase describes the backpack as being able to handle a 15.6" laptop. However, they are describing measurements in a manner that is different than the computer industry. I have what Dell describes as a 15" laptop, but it won't fit into the bag. Why? Because Dell is referirng to the diagonal screen measurement of the laptop, while Evecase is referring to the diagonal measurement of the laptop itself. My 15" laptop has an exterior measurement of 17.5", so of course, it doesn't fit. Evecase isn't being misleading - they are just using stating facts differently that standard computer nomenclature. In summary, I had some quality issues, while my other issues were more about personal taste. If the issues I described aren't a big deal to you, then you'll find this to be a great bag for the money.
