Review on 🚽 Clear Flush Valve Seal Kit for American Standard 7301111-0070A by Kyle Ziegler

Fixed my Champion 4

I have noticed that my Champion 4 toilet would sporadically fill up in the middle of the night and then become sporadically frequent. I knew it was time to address this issue. I searched the internet and matched that part number to the model I had and within a few days I was ready to go. I was wary at first because the packaging had a different model name (although the model number matched). Perhaps more daring than clever, I disassembled the flush valve and compared the new parts to the old. They seemed very similar, so I continued. When I had everything assembled I turned the water back on and was very sad to hear that the water was actually flowing like crazy. Disassembled, reassembled, tried again - same problem. I then tried reinstalling the old parts (you get a valve cover and a washer for the pull chain part) but I had the same problem. I figured I did something wrong and there weren't any instructions to follow, so I consulted YouTube. After a few videos I found that the valve ball had to be twisted during assembly. There are channels that the top and bottom fit into, forming a more regular sphere. I went back to the bathroom to try and gave my "Aha!" moment. It worked great. Turned the water back on and didn't lose a drop. I ended up saving 50% of the cost of the imitation my local hardware store sells, got the genuine part and saved A LOT of money by watching this video. Instead of buying the whole kit for a replacement or calling a plumber. And the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that simple twist could have been printed on a piece of paper in the packaging. I don't know why American Standard lets people stand up for themselves other than a profound sense of accomplishment when they actually "fix" it.
