I did my best not to buy this hob. Few reviews, unbranded design, clearly a new market offering - I just didn't want to be a guinea pig. We have an old house and the installation space is very limited. I've bought and returned big brands that just didn't fit. The cooktop must be a maximum of 20.5 inches wide. Most models of new brands have a diagonal of 21.5 inches. The specs for this top say 20.5 inches, which is close. It is 30 5/32" long and 20 7/16" wide. Just perfect for our space. Installation was easy. Please note that the black and white manual that came with the device contains an error. It says to connect the black and brown wires together (for specific installations). But there's no brown wire, period. There's a red wire. By exclusion I found that the red wire was actually "brown" as stated in the documentation. Multiple reviews have shown that the burners did not redden or heat up slowly. If the device is not properly connected, it will lead to this result. However, when properly connected, the burners will glow a bright red light and do so in seconds to start the heat. It takes about 2 minutes to figure out the controls. The teenagers complained about it for the first few days, but I haven't heard any whining since. Remember that the code "LO" does not mean low heat, as one might think, but LOCK. Lightly press the lock button for 3 seconds and LO will disappear, restoring order to the universe. That's the only problem. The thickness of the glass top is the same as our previous Kenmore which lasted 25 years (before hitting a frozen block of mango at high speed). The device feels solid enough and not flimsy or cheap like I feared. Would buy again.
