I noticed that they are much thicker than the factory cable that came with the hard drive. This works well for its intended purpose. I bought it to experiment and cut the cord near the middle. I liked the braid, the ground wire, and the entire foil shield that had to be removed in one short section. This is a very high quality cable. For my specific use I cut the red wire in half and attached a small switch. This of course voids the warranty. So if it fails in the future I'll just buy a replacement. This is perfect for my use case. I will be buying more data cables from this company in the future. I can't comment on durability as I've only been using it for a relatively short time. And most people don't modify their cables.
