My first pair of Hay Dude shoes was a size 12 and while they fit well I thought I could use a little more room in the toe box. So I ordered two new pairs in a size 13 which not only didn't have any extra room in the toe box but were also very narrow. The sole of my size 12 Hay Dude is 5 inches wide at its widest point, which easily accommodates the 4 3/8 inches needed for a medium width. The new Hay Dude shoes in a size 13, which should be a medium width, are only 4 inches at their widest point. The sizing charts indicate the average size is 13 4 3/8 inches wide. So the question is how do you fit a 4 3/8" wide foot into a shoe that is only 4" wide? Answer: no! In fact, at just 3 15/16 inches wide, the Super Slim is the only foot that according to shoe width charts fits shoes that are only 4 inches wide overall. Conclusion: If you expect these shoes to be true to size according to the usual shoe size charts, you will probably return them because they are too small and too tight.
