Review on 📷 Nikon 1 J2 10.1MP High Definition Digital Camera with 10-30mm Vibration Reduction Lens (Black) by Derrick Duck

My experience: Over 20 years of Nikon hobbyists, from F4, D100, D200, D300, D90, D3S, D3200, D5100, D7000, D7100. F1.4 lens from Prime to F2.8 zoom Nikon lens. Why I buy this Nikon 1 J2: I always have the situation that "I want to take my camera with me". So I really dream of a camera that's so small I can carry it around with me every day with much better image quality than my Samsung Galaxy Note II and smarter than a P&S camera Bargain Nikon 1 Design: * DSLRs: This means they are less bulky than a DSLR but can have a much better lens option * 2.9 crop factor, great! That means more depth of field, so I get a sharp image 90% of the time. If you need shallow depth of field, use full frame with an F2.8 lens or larger.* A 10-30mm lens is great! They focus more on image quality than flexibility. I think the 3x zoom is the ultimate design compromise between IQ, size and price.* 10 megapixel sensor. Perfect solution! That means they're targeting this little toy for low-light performance. In addition, 99% of our needs are enough for 10 megapixels anyway. * Focusing is fast and accurate. * Picture quality: I am amazed at how sharp and detailed the picture is. The perfect combination of design and technology.* In action: Fast and accurate Improvement/Wish list:* Improved lens cap. I decide not to use the lens cap for fear of losing it. Just put on Tiffen filter and HN-N101 lens hood and you're good to go.* PSAM, too bad PSAM isn't in the dial, not in the menu.* Processing: Yes I'm not sure if the front lens element will survive. It's plastic and since I use it every day without a case/bag/protector (only filters and lens hood) only time will tell. Dream camera to take with you. * Nice to have: GPS, WIFI, CLS Commander mode for built-in flash, external stereo mic jack with audio level meter, waterproof (and on sale for $249!). Complaint: * The FT-1 adapter is really nice to have (to use my premium glass), but why $269? If you sell it for $26.9 I bet you sell it for as much as the camera itself! (Economies of Scale Nikon, well.). And until then, a new horizon will open up for this camera. Imagine using a 50mm F1.4 AF-S lens for portraits? Wow.! Or at least the $199 35mm F1.8 AF-S DX. Verdict:* This is an unbiased everyday camera that delivers the BEST image quality ever offered by a camera of this size* Don't expect BOKEH or a professional portrait! Use a full-frame or at least a DSLR with an APS-C sensor and shoot with at least a 70mm F2.8 lens.
